The Coventry City squad were forced to travel by tube to their match against QPR, after the team bus got stuck in traffic. Quoth the manager:
“We bought 23 single tickets at Hanger Lane station and our unsung hero was Jay Tabb, who knew we had to change at Hammersmith to go to Shepherd’s Bush.”
Hurray for Jay Tabb. He loses points, however, for not knowing about Oyster pay-as-you-go. 23 singles at 3 quid a throw for a paper ticket? That’s £69!

They can’t have travelled on the Central line, though. Hanger Lane is on the central line, yes – but that section of the line is shut all weekend for engineering works!
And, more importantly, Hammersmith ISN’T ON THE CENTRAL LINE!

Looking at streetmap.co.uk, Park Royal station isn’t too far away from Hanger Lane. Maybe they actually travelled from there, using the Piccadilly Line. That would explain the change at Hammersmith.
It’s just occurred to me that there are probably better things for me to expend my valuable time on than trying to explain this discrepancy. 🙂
